Good Inauguration Week, A new chapter is beginning for American farmers, and a real sense of excitement is in the air. With a new administration comes fresh optimism, and the world is ready for more American-grown food. As we move forward, many opportunities exist to strengthen and enhance the agriculture sector. With the upcoming cabinet confirmation of Brooke Rollins for Secretary of Agriculture, optimism has never been higher. When confirmed, Secretary Rollins intends to focus on four key goals to strengthen the USDA and American Agriculture:

Another pressing issue is the EPA and its upcoming decisions on farm chemicals. There’s a sense of caution regarding what’s ahead. As my chemical supplier advises, if you think you’ll need something, it’s best to buy it now—you might not have that option in the future. With the new administration moving forward, anything could happen now. In terms of weather, West Texas and much of the nation are experiencing cold conditions. On the bright side, this has helped reduce pest populations, and hay supplies are being diminished throughout the United States The hay market is strengthening, and forages are in high demand among producers. The freezing weather and snowstorms down on the Gulf Coast will push back some early planting for producers down south.
