CUF 101 Alfalfa is a non-dormant variety developed by the University of California, well-suited for warm climates with long growing seasons. This hardy alfalfa thrives in low desert valleys, making it an ideal choice for regions like southern California, southern Arizona, southern Nevada, southern New Mexico, and southern Mexico. Its high-quality forage makes it a popular choice for hay production and livestock feed in these regions and similar climates worldwide.

Known for its robust growth, CUF 101 delivers excellent forage quality, particularly in the early years of stand establishment. While it provides high yields of good-quality hay, older stands may become somewhat stemmy, which can affect the overall quality. However, its adaptability to hot, arid environments and ability to produce year-round forage make it an invaluable option for dryland or irrigation-based farming systems.

USDA Seeding Rates:

• Broadcast: 15–20 lbs per acre

• Drilled: 12–15 lbs per acre

• Planting Depth: ¼ to ½ inch

• Ideal Soil Temperature: 60°F and rising

• Optimal Seeding Time: Early spring or late fall
